My HUE Exchange program already end at 31 january. And as my father told me, I decided to go around Korea first before I comeback to Indonesia. Why I choose Korea? The reason is because it's near from Japan. Anddd.... I really want to go there because of all kpop and variety show that I watched. I want to try Korean Food. And I want to go to the romantic places. So, I told myself that I have to do that even tough I will be travel alone.
My journey start at 19 Feb 2013. I took a ferry from Fukuoka to Busan. From Hakata Port International Ferry, I take JR Beetle that cost 13,000 yen (around Rp 1.300.000). My ferry will depart at 10 AM, so I have to come to the part one hour earlier. The most awesome about Japan is the way the transportation work. At 9.45 the passenger already go to the ferry and at 10.00 AM, the ferry was departed on time. I think the ferry is good. it was comfortable. I was sleeping on my way to Busan. This is the link about the ferry. http://www.jrbeetle.co.jp/Internet/index.html
Ah, there is one thing that I love about Japan. In Japan there is such an amazing tradition. So, when you left from restaurant or shopping, people will say thank you until you cannot seen anymore. And that is something that happened in JR Beetle. All staff were line up and bow as the ferry depart, they even waved as we moved on. I am really surprised by their acting actually. Japan is really good for their services. You will never disappointed. maybe that's why their services is so damn expensive. The price of food that you eat in the restaurant can double than take out. Anyway, back to the JR ferry, I feel that I am really special and moved by their action. :)
So, it takes 3 hours by JR from Fukuoka to Busan. And I arrive safely on Busan port at 13.00. I take a taxi to Busan station to meet my Korean friend, Minji. Actually there is a bus that only cost 1000 Won (Rp 10.000). But, the time is 13.30. When I go there, the time already 13.40. So I am late to take that bus. I think is ok, since busan station is near the port, I only pay 2000 won ( Rp 20.000).
I am wait for Minji almost 1 hour, because she is late. While waiting, I take a bread in Paris Baquet Bakery. I go there because of the free wifi. :p I need wifi so I can line with Minji and do some fb or twitter time. The good thing about Korea is they give you a lot of place with free wifi. So, for poor tourist like me, it was really helpful.
After Minji come, we went to post office to send some of my baggage with EMS. It only takes 5 days from Korea to Indonesia. But, the price is expensive. Don't ask how much that it cost, I don't want to remember it again. :P
After that I put my big baggage in a locker. Well, I don't want to go around with my big baggage. And actually we plan to sleep in Jimjilbang so I have to put my bag away. There are a lot of locker in the station. For my big baggage it cost 2500 won. I think that is a good price. In Japan, it cost 500 yen (twice than Korea). So we went to downtown and eat some Toppoki with Kimbab. It because I am really hungry at that time. I don't eat breakfast and only eat some cookies in the previous bakery. Toppoki cost 2000 won and Kimbab 1000 won. We also try korean snack, the name is Heottdok. It is such a bread with some sweet and peanuts. I heard from Minji that this sanck is famous in Busan. And the Heottdok with peanuts is only in Busan. In other place, they only serve with sugar or honey. It also cheap, it costs 1000 won only.
Yes,, I do some culinary trip with Minji. We also take a dinner about Korea Clam. So basically they give you some clam and you have to grill it by yourself. Busan is the city near the sea. So, seafood in here is really famous. I am lucky that I eat with Minji. So, she is the one that cook for me. ^^
It was really delicious!! Korean restaurant always serve you with many side dish. They give us seaweed soup and many kimchi. I love the seaweed soup. And the kimchi is really sour. I know why Korean said that Japanese Kimchi was really sweet. The Kimchi in Korea was too sour. And there are a lot of kimchi. I can only eat the usual kimchi, cabbage kimchi because the others just too strong. I can't eat it. This dinner cost 17.000 won per person. It was expensive, but I think it is worth it. :D
And after delicious dinner, we went to Jimjilbang. Jimjilbang is a sauna place but in Korean ways. So, first come, you pay 10.000 won and they will give you clothes and locker key. You put your luggage in locker and just take a bath. You should wash and clean yourself before enter. After take a bath you can enter the tub. There are many tub. The temperature is 38 degrees, 40 degrees, and there is a bath with wood. I heard from Minji that the wood was really old, hundred years old and good for your skin. Other tube is the tube with water pressure for massage. And they have an outdoor tub. Since it is winter, the temperature just nice. It was not too hot. Since I cannot stand soak in hot tub for a long time. The outdoor tub is just perfect for me. :)
After we take a bath, we can go to the room and find a place for chill out or sleep. We buy some korean traditional drink and sleep in a room special for woman. They just give you one pillow and two blanket. You sleep on the hard floor. So, it was a little bit hard. But, it was interesting and a good option if you don't have much money but find a good place for sleep.
Jimjilbang is a common place. So there are a lot of people there. They can be really noisy, especially the kids. So, if you search a place for rest and sleep well, I don't recommend this place. :)
We, wake up late at the next day. Maybe around 9 AM. Ah, the name of our Jimjilbang is Vesta. is located in the uphill and have a big window, so you can see Heundae beach and the bridge from that place. It was really beautiful at night and morning as well. You should come and try for sure. :)
We take a bath and check out. And since it was late, both of us very hungry. For brunch, we ate a hangover soup. I forget what the name in Korea. Basically it just a gochujang soup with vegetables. Korean usually eat that in the morning if they are drunk the night before. That's why it was called a hangover soup. it was cheap. only 5000 won. We eat at the small restaurant in our way to the beach. After eat, we walk around Heundae beach. what I hate in Korea is there are a lot of couples in the beach. It was so annoying for single like me and Minji.. :(
The beach was just beautiful.. It was written that this beach is really famous in summer. Many people come to sunbathing. But, since I come in winter, the wind just too cold, so it was quite. If you watch Running Man or other korean drama, Heundae beach is famous with the Seagull. They are everywhere, if you give them a snack they will come around you. it was nice to take a picture there. ^^
There are a photo spot for tourist in the beach. So basically you can take a picture, change the background, put some stickers and they will send it to your email. It was interesting. Me and Minji took 2 picture there. And it was free!! yeay!!
In the second day we just go to Heundae beach and eat Krispi Kreme donut in the afternoon. After that I continue my journey to Gyeongju. I take an express bus and it takes one hour and cost 4500 won. And I have to say goodbye to Minji because she also has to comeback to her hometown. I am so happy that she can accompany me to walk around Busan. She is really nice. Thank you Minji.. See you in Indonesia!!! :D
